Hello! Thank you so much for visiting our online store and wanting to know more about Toys That Teach. We are a family owned business that has served the Sacramento area since 1982. We currently have two brick-and-mortar stores and a warehouse/online order processing facility. We consider it an honor to have been a part of so many children's lives, and we look forward to serving the needs of growing families for years to come!

A little background.
I would like to share with you my story of Toys That Teach. I am in a unique position to tell the tale because I grew up in it! I was two years old when my mom first started the business, and I was four when we opened our first toy store. Yes, my parents put me to work at a very young age, giving me the opportunity to test every toy I could get my little hands on. And work, work, work I did! Those early years were filled with fun, healthy playtime, and I know first hand how important good toys can be!

Often people ask me, "what was it like to grow up at Toys That Teach?" and my answer to that question has changed through the years. When I was younger, I didn't know what was so special about it. Didn't everyone grow up surrounded by good quality educational toys? Many of my peers at school had never played with the kind of toys I was familiar with. Things like science kits, European building sets, counting bears, illustrated books about nature and history, brain games, capes, hats, and equipment for pretend play, realistic dinosaur figurines, etc. At the time, the local big-box toy store was selling a lot of, ahem, other kinds of toys, that typically lacked the kind of quality and replay value that I had become accustomed to. The other children didn't even know what they were missing!

As I've gotten older, I've realized what a profound affect the toys at Toys That Teach have had on me. I grew up being exposed to fascinating and stimulating ideas and possibilities that stretched the limits of my imagination. To this day I have an incredible love of learning that is significantly due to countless hours of educational play.
